Meet Dr. Freeman

Dr. SakamotoDr. Brett Freeman is a periodontist at Central Ohio Periodontics. Originally from northern Ohio, he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from The Ohio State University in 2011 before discovering his passion for dentistry. He went on to receive his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from The Ohio State University, followed by specialty training in periodontics at Indiana University School of Dentistry. During his residency, he served as Chief Resident and earned his Master of Science in Dentistry. He also holds an IV sedation certification, supporting his commitment to delivering a comfortable, top-tier experience for every patient.

While in residency, Dr. Freeman was also named a finalist for the prestigious Dr. and Mrs. Gerald M. Kramer Scholar Award for Excellence through the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation — a national honor reserved for top-performing residents who demonstrate excellence in character, academics, integrity, leadership, community involvement, and concern for the needs of others. More recently, in 2025, Dr. Freeman was named Doctor of the Year by his previous organization — a distinction selected from a network of more than 200 doctors and reflecting his clinical excellence, leadership, and dedication to patient care.

Dr. Freeman is deeply committed to continuing education and is actively involved in numerous study clubs that bring periodontists and restorative dentists together to elevate the standard of care. In particular, he is an active member of the Seattle Study Club at the local, regional, and national levels, where he consistently engages with peers to refine and advance the practice of dentistry. Outside of the office, he enjoys culinary arts, the outdoors, and spending quality time with his wife and three young children.
