All-on-4® Dental Implants

What is All-on-4® Dental Implants/Teeth-in-A-Day?

All-on-4® Dental Implants is a procedure that allows patients to have surgery and replacement teeth all done in one day. Many people also refer to these implants as Teeth-in-A-Day.

All-on-4As the name suggests, between four and six dental implants will be placed for the All-on-4® Implant procedure; and, a denture will be immediately placed over the top of the implants. These denture implants will utilize your available bone to provide bone-level stabilization.

Benefits of The All-on-4® Dental Implants Procedure

The recovery time is minimal, the price is affordable, and the results are long-term. In general, dental implants allow patients to enjoy all their favorite foods again. In addition, dentures supported by implants are easier to care for because you will no longer have to contend with the frustration of removable appliances. You can attain a beautiful, brand-new smile with denture implants in just one day and begin enjoying increased confidence and a better quality of life.

What to Expect During Your All-on-4® Dental Implants Procedure

Prior to starting the denture implant procedure, the doctor will numb the area to ensure that you do not feel pain or discomfort during the treatment. From there, four implants will be placed in the areas with optimum bone volume. After the implants are placed, a temporary set of teeth are attached using a new or existing denture as the frame. Three to four months later, when the bone has completely integrated with the implant, your restorative dentist will remove the temporary teeth and replace them with the new permanent set, securely anchoring them in place.

Key Differences Between Traditional Dental Implants and All-on-4® Dental Implants

Traditional dental implants cannot be disturbed for the first four to six months in order for them to heal. During the osseointegration process, the surgically embedded implant becomes firmly anchored by the growth of the surrounding bone. The tooth cannot be replaced until the healing process is complete. Throughout this period, you may need to wear a bridge, denture, or even go without a tooth. While traditional dental implants have an extremely high success rate, this waiting period is one of the procedure’s chief drawbacks.

On the contrary, there is no waiting period required forAll-on-4® dental implants, which is why they also are referred to as Teeth-in-a-Day. Your missing teeth can be replaced with “immediate load” dental implants. This process only requires one surgery. Imagine being able to leave the office with a beautiful new set of teeth in just one visit!

All-on-4 Dental Implants: Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re considering a long-lasting solution for missing teeth, All-on-4 dental implants offer stability and a natural-looking smile. Below, we’ve answered some of the most common questions to help you understand what to expect.

What are All-on-4 dental implants?
All-on-4 is a full-arch tooth-replacement system that uses four strategically placed dental implants to support a custom seat of prosthetic teeth. This technique gives patients a fixed, permanent smile–often in just one day.
How are they different from traditional implants?
Traditional implants usually require one post per missing tooth, while All-on-4 uses only four implants to support an entire arch. This method reduces surgery time, eliminates the need for bone grafting in many cases, and allows faster recovery.
What are the main benefits of All-on-4 dental implants?
Patients often choose All-on-4 for its efficiency and long-term results. Other benefits include:

• A stable, non-removable solution for full-arch tooth loss
• Immediate results with a functional, natural-looking smile are often delivered the same day
• Fewer implants are required, which can reduce surgical complexity
• No need for adhesives or removal like with dentures

After treatment, patients have an improved ability to speak, eat, and confidently smile.

Who is a good candidate?
All-on-4 is ideal for patients who are missing most or all of their teeth or are currently wearing dentures. Even if you’ve experienced bone loss, this treatment may still be a good option. A consultation and 3D imaging at our office will help determine if All-on-4 is right for you.
Will my new teeth look natural?
Yes. At Central Ohio Periodontics, we work closely with trusted labs to create prosthetics that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. Each restoration is custom-designed to complement your facial structure and bite.
How long does the procedure take?
Patients can often receive their implants and a temporary set of teeth in just one visit. After a few months of healing, the final prosthetic is placed, offering lasting comfort and aesthetics.
Is the procedure painful?
We prioritize your comfort throughout the process. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia or sedation, and most patients report minimal discomfort afterward. Post-operative care instructions will help ease recovery.
How long do All-on-4 implants last?

With proper care and routine checkups, All-on-4 implants can last decades. Good oral hygiene and avoiding tobacco use can protect your investment in the long term.
